Current WWE Raw & Smackdown divas include: Torrie Wilson, Maria, Candice Michelle, Ashley, Lillian Garcia, Mickie James, Victoria, Kristal, Kelly Kelly and Melina. Both Torrie Wilson and Candice Michelle have appeared on Playboy covers and it appears Ashley will be next. Below are 5 women from professional wrestling who took the term "diva" to new levels. Many credit Tammy Lynn Sytch, aka "Sunny" as being the first WWE Diva. Real Name: Joanie Laurer

About: Chyna was billed as the "9th Wonder of the World" in the WWF/WWE, a woman who truly towered over her opponents. She came to the WWF/WWE in 1997 after meeting Triple H and Shawn Michaels in a bar. The duo helped her get into the professional wrestling world and she became the bodyguard of Triple H and then later DX. Chyna went on to turn on HHH and befriend Kane, then later doublecross Kane to rejoin Triple H. She entered a feud with Jeff Jarrett and defeated him for his Intercontinental Title at No Mercy 1999. This was Jarrett's last WWF match, and Chyna became the only diva in WWE history to hold the IC title. Chyna held the IC title a total of 3 times, also defeating Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero. She went on to become ringisde manager/girlfriend of Eddie Guerrero, and then went on to be a dominant WWE Woman's Champ, defeating the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus along the way. During her career, she was the only female to enter the Royal Rumble and King of the Ring tournaments. Chyna's final match was at Judgement Day 2001, where she defeated Lita in a ladder match and then vacated the WWE Women's Title.

Chyna left the WWE in November of 2001 after contract talks went sour. Laurer has appeared on the cover of Playboy twice and posed nude in it twice (Nov 2000 & Jan 2002). The 1st issue was one of Playboy's 10 best-selling issues of all time. Laurer has also appeared on VH1's Celebreality show, "The Surreal Life" in 2005 and then "Surreal Life: Fame Games" in 2007. She has had an on and off relationship with Sean Waltman, better known as X-Pac, which at one point resulted in her being arrested for domestic violence.

About:Amy Dumas 1st became interested in wrestling after seeing luchador Rey Mysterio Jr. in a match. She traveled to Mexico and began training to wrestle, and used dancing to finance her training efforts. Along the way she met the likes of Tajiri, Val Venis, Chris Jericho, and Essa Rios. Lita appeared in WCW for 1 year (1999), before finally signing with WWE/WWF. She started out as the ringside valet/manager for Essa Rios and they debuted in 2000. Essa Rios eventually turned on Lita during a feud with Chyna/Eddie Guerrero. The Hardy Boyz came down to save Lita, and from there formed the popular "Team Extreme" with Lita. Team Extreme ended up in a feud with Test & Albert (T&A), a tag team managed by Trish Stratus. This began a longtime feud between Trish and Lita in 2000. Lita went on to win the WWE Women's Title for her first time in 2001 against Stephanie McMahon. She was involved in a controversial "pregnancy" story line where Matt Hardy had proposed to Lita thinking he was the baby's father, when Kane showed up claiming he was the true father. This produced a feud between Hardy and Kane, with Lita eventually managing Kane. She finally turned on Kane in 2005, and helped Edge win an important "Goldrush Tournament" match against him. From here until her retirement, Lita remained as the ringside valet, manager and girlfriend for Edge.

Lita's final match was at Survivor Series 2006 (November 26, 2006) where she was pinned by Mickie James and lost the Women's Title. Lita retired after this event, claiming she was receiving harassment from fans in her everyday life over the Matt Hardy vs. Edge feud. Lita is now working on a music career as part of a band The Luchagors.

About: Sable debuted in 1996 at Wrestlemania XII, when she escorted Hunter Hearst Helmsley down to the ring. Later at the event, she was being mistreated by Helmsley backstage, and her real-life husband Marc Mero stepped in to save her. "Wildman" Marc Mero from here on out used Sable's ringside managerial skills until he was injured in 1997. When Mero returned in 1998, he was upset by the popularity Sable had achieved without him, and ended up turning on her. Sable was part of a feud involving Golddust & Luna Vashon, and lost an evening gown match to Luna (Unforgiven 1998)due to interference from Mero. Sable would extract revenge and powerbomb Mero, then entered into a feud with his new manager, Miss Jacqueline. Sable eventually went on to win the WWF Women's Title from Jacqueline on the September 21, 1998 RAW. She would later lose the title to Debra in an Evening Gown Match, even though Debra lost her evening gown first. Sable left the WWE in 1999-2001 and filed a lawsuit against the company citing "sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions". She returned to WWE in 2003 and feuded with Playboy covergirl Torrie Wilson, and then entered a partnership with Vince McMahon and a feud vs. Stephanie McMahon . Her final WWE appearance was when she along with Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie, accompanied Eddie Guerrero to the ring in his lowrider (on Smackdown!).

Sable appeared on the cover and nude in Playboy magazine a total of 3 times (1st in 1999). Sable left the WWE in August of 2004, as the WWE website reported they had "parted ways". Rena had a small cameo role in the movie "Corky Romano" as a bouncer and also has an autobiography entitled "Undefeated". Rena divorced Marc Mero in 2004 and then re-married Brock Lesnar in 2006, but the marriage only lasted for a short time.

About: Sunny is considered by many to be the 1st official WWF/WWE Diva. She entered WWF in 1994 and began doing WWF news segments to promote upcoming shows. In 1996, she became a ringside valet named "Sunny" who accompanied "Skip" (her boyfriend, Chris Candido) down to his matches. They were referred to as the Bodydonnas, a tag team obsessed with fitness and good health. Sunny became America Online's "Most Downloaded Woman" in 1996, due to special pics that only AOL was offering people. She also won "Best Buns" and "Best Manager" at the 1996 WWE Slammy Awards. Sunny became popular as a ring girl, announcer and t-shirt model in WWE, often participating in various risque diva promotions. She returned to manage Legion of Doom (L.O.D. 2000) in 1998. Tammy Lynn also claims she was offered to pose nude in Playboy at one time, which Rena Mero (aka "Sable") disputes, saying Sunny was never offered.

Sunny was released by WWE in mid-summer of 1998 and has gone on to work with WCW, ECW and various indies wrestling programs. A legends action figure is set to be released of Sunny as well.

About: Trish Stratus first caught WWE attention when she was hosting a Canadian pro-wrestling talk show. Management told Trish she should start training for a wrestling career, and she did, eventually signing to the WWE in 1999. Her debut was in 2000 as she scouted WWE Superstars from the top of the ramp. Her 1st management in the WWE came when she managed the tag team of Test & Albert (T&A). Trish finally wrestled when she entered the ring in a six-person inter-gender tag match, teaming with T&A to face the Hardy's and Lita. She first won the Women's Championship belt in 2001 during a diva "Six Pack Challenge", where the title was previously vacant. In 200, Trish was involved in a controversial storyline, where she became Mr. McMahon's "personal toy" and was humiliated by the Chairman on a constant basis. Trish had the last laugh when she brought Vince's wife Linda out in a wheelchair during Wrestlemania X-7 streetfight (Vince vs. Shane). Trish slapped Vince in the face and then Linda kicked Vince in the groin, enabling Shane to eventually win the match. From 2002-2006 Trish was involved in feuds with the likes of Jazz, Ivory, Victoria, and Gail Kim, and had many classic encounters with Lita. She partnered up with both The Rock and eventually Chris Jericho, acting as Jericho's love interest. Trish' final match came at Unforgiven in 2006, when she defeated Lita for the Women's Championship, making it her 7th time as Women's Champ. Since she retired, the Women's Championship was vacated on the next night's episode of RAW.
